She is dual-certified in molecular genetics and cytogenetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG). Dr. Allingham-Hawkins earned her BSc in Honors Genetics from the University of Western Ontario in 1987 and her PhD from McMaster University in 1993. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Genetics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada in 1995.
